Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (– 16 September ) was a Dutch-German-Polish physicist, engineer, and glass blower who is best known for inventing the alcohol thermometer () and the mercury thermometer (), and for developing a temperature scale now named after him - Fahrenheit (°F).
